Camp Details
The Bulldog Swim Camp is for competitive swimmers of all levels. We ask that the younger campers be able to swim 1 length of each of the 4 competitive strokes (Fly,Back, Breast, Free).
5 Day Camp:
The full 5 day camp really concentrates on proper technique with one stroke per day and is broken into 2 two hour water sessions and a one hour lecture. During the morning (SCY) session the campers will work in stations. During the afternernoon session (LCM) the campers will be in more of a workout setting focusing on the stroke of the day. The youngest(least experienced) group will swim both sessions SCY and have their station work during the afternoon. Private lessons are offered during midday for an extra fee.
Starts and Turn Camp:
The Starts and Turn Camp will feature four 2 hour water sessions and several video sessions that will focus on learning about and improving on those skills. This camp has low participant cap which allows for a lot of individual attention and feedback for each camper. This camp will be SCY and will focus on starts and turns for each stroke, the back to breast IM turn and well as breakouts and finishes.
Coaches:
We believe that our camp has one of the best coaching staff's of any camp in the country.
Besides the UGA staff we have a number of college coaches from around the country working with your swimmers. Many camp coaches have been coming back to work our camp for many years now. We have a great group of coaches/teachers who take great pride in making sure the campers learn as much as possible and have as much fun as possible during their time here. Each coach has a full certified background check each and every year before they are allowed to work camp.
5 Day Camp:
Morning Session 9:00-11:00am.
The morning session (SCY) will focus on stroke technique, we will work on one stroke each day. The session will be broken up into stations that will include Film study, Drills, watching yourself on film, and swimming technique/turns.
Lecture
The campers will get to hear from and speak with Coach Jack Bauerle and Coach Humphries along with a number of our elite and Olympic swimmers training here at the University of Georgia.
Session II 4:00-6:00PM
This session will be Long Course Meters for all but our youngest group. It will be a training/technique session that covers the stroke for that day.
Private Lessons:
Private lessons are available during the full 5 day sessions of camp as space allows, they are popular and fill up fast since there are only 36 spaces available per camp. The cost is $100 which includes three 30 minute private lessons with a camp coach, underwater filming of each stroke that is placed on a DVD to be taken home and a stroke evaluation sheet that is filled out by the lesson coach.
Meals:
The campers will be eating all of their meals (besides the 1st night) at one of the UGA award winning dining halls. The food at our camp has always been one of the items that is talked about the most. We make sure that they are fed well and have healthy choices available.
Food Allergies: Any camper with a food allergy must speak with the coaches during check in. We can have the staff nutritionist walk you through the dining hall and go over your food options with you.
Multiple Camps:
Many Campers participate in both the 5 day and then the corresponding Starts and Turns Camp. The camps a back to back to make this transition as easy as possible. Campers that are staying for both camps will eat lunch right after the awards ceremony following the 5 day camp and head back to the dorm with the staff. They will not need to check out/in between camps. Overnight stay over is not available June 1st, beween the first Starts and Turns Camp and the 2nd 5 Day Camp. It is perfectly fine to be enrolled in both Starts and Turns 1 and Full Camp 2 but all campers must be picked up and checked out of the dorms bewtween those two camps.
Transportation:
Airport pickup/drop off is available for those that need it. The cost is $75 and will include both pick up prior to camp and drop off after the last session. Flights into Atlanta should arrive around 11am and departure should be no earlier than 5pm.
